I have just read the part in Missee Lee where they are escaping in Shining Moon and Captain Flint turns to Susan for approval
to take the junk through the dangerous gorge. Its the only way out but he doesn't take charge, he wants Susan's agreement.
Amazing moral authority she must have over all the others!
I realise that this is a "story" as opposed a real life book, as my daughter classifies them, but even so..........
