I have now been told what happened on Tarboard this morning, and that Ian gave an explanation then as to why some postings had rightly to be removed. I therefore apologise for the above frivolous (as it turned out) question. I genuinely logged on after the deletions had been made, and merely experienced the puzzling backwash. But I should have known . . . Sorry.
