And now to some really serious stuff: AR as a guide for cooks. Ed's post reminded me of a very important question: how do you boil an egg? More specifically, how long does AR recommend boiling an egg? According to Ed's precis of PM the Ds were:
"Somewhat horrified that the eggs boiled for
four instead of three minutes, and thus were called "steel-boiled""
I remember Susan asking Jim how long he liked his eggs boiled inWDMTGS and I think the topic comes up elsewhere in the canon. I like my eggs soft and can eat a 3 minute egg but I have found that anything boiled for much under 4 minutes is likely to elicit disgusted noises from any observers.
Have we gone hard over the years and can no longer stomach a truely soft-boiled egg so what appeared "steel-boiled" to the Ds is now considered soft? Is my watch wrong? Or did AR not know how to boil an egg?
