An easy fix for timing eggs is to serve them poached--bring water to a low boil, crack egg into water, watch as egg simmers, pull out gently when you see the consistency you like. Susan could have cooked an egg per explorer this way in her big frypan from Mrs. Jackson's farm.
Here in the US, we tend to prefer ours fried or scrambled, or best of all, made into a delicious omelet with fillings oozing out onto the pre-warmed plates ;-)
