My main point is that Walton on (the) Naze promoted itself as Walton on Naze in 1961. This we can settle one way or another by finding the appropriate town guide book. In the meantime (and I know this is something of a red herring) I note that AR's own newspaper as well as the Coastguard still refer to the town as Walton on Naze.
