Interesting Jock, may have been a 1961 guide book but it looks much older

The picture (looks as if it may have originally been a postcard) is not from my 1961 Guide, but from the Walton-on-the-Naze Seven Seaside Wonders from a Past Era website.

IIRC a very similar picture appeared in my 1961 Guide, but I'm not sure whether this guide has survived my various moves.

An even older postcard of the boating lake appears here. Like the previous postcard it carries the name "Walton-on-Naze". So it looks as if W-o-N may have been for a time the name the town used to promote itself to the outside world.

Incidentally for anyone who wondered what happened to the small sailing dinghies that were available for hire (gunter not lugsail rig). A little about their sad fate can be found on the ybw.com discussion board.
