A joke, doubtless, but with a grain or so of truth. I participate (like many of the rest of you) on a number of on-line discussion sites, and I have noticed that it's not uncommon for new arrivals to launch campaigns to remake those sites into what they'd prefer to be joining rather than to take the time to absorb the atmosphere of the pub that is (wonderful analogy, Peter!).
