I would have thought all the children were prime candidates for the Scouts/Guides of the 1930's. I wonder did AR have any knowledge/dealings with the Scout Movement of the time?
An interesting observation. There are many parallels between the skills and management approach (with Susan taking the adult role) used in scouting and the techniques employed by the Swallows. I guess that the delay in eliciting any replies is because no one has come across any hard evidence.
