Anyone got any contacts in the world of script-writing? andyb
No, Andy, but I used to have. They would not have regarded AR's text and plot as a gospel engraved on tablets, as we do - they would have considered it a starting point, not a finishing point. And John is right about commercial considerations - if you have booked a day's filming in Beccles, you have to have all your actors there, plus technicians, plus mobile catering vans (under trade union rules) and mobile dressing rooms, and you also will have time limits with regard to use of premises and streets. So if there is a relatively minor scripted incident at Potter that can be filmed easily at Beccles, you film it at Beccles.
BTW, ab - I have puzzled all evening about the significance of 'Mind the gap', but come to no conclusion. Is the answer in Best of Childhood like everything else is?
And, oddly enough, I used to know Beccles. Does anyone know if William Clowes the printing firm is still there?
