Just to show that the boot can just as often be on the other foot . . .

I would never, ever, ever use the word 'colonial' to describe someone living in America or Australia or NZ. This applies both on and off Tarboard. I have always thought the expression to be rude and capable of causing offence, because it implies lesser status under the heel of an empire. Yet it is being bandied about cheerfully on Tarboard in a cordial spirit.

How different we all are! And I copped it once for using the word 'tosh'. Well, as Jock has just said, if we were all the same it would be monotonous. But I wish I understood the TarBoard philosophy better.
