As one of those "despised" :-) "Colonials", the term does not offend me in the least.
I am often guilty, when talking with friends about some negative attitude of people in UK to Australia, that "we are just bloody colonials anyway".
It is interesting that in genealogical circles in Oz these days, it it a feather in your cap if your ancestor was transported to Oz courtesy of HM Govt.
The term only becomes offensive if it is expressed with a complete lack of humour, and I have yet to see that usage on "TarBoard"
