Just learned that PP won the Carnegie Medal for the best children's book of the year in early 1937. First time that award was made. Publisher Jonathan Cape sent round robin letter of congratulation signed by eveyone from Cape himself to the tea-lady.

Popularity of AR's writing is one thing but 'professional' acknowledgement is something else.

Has anyone any idea of the current 'trade' perception of the Children's Canon? (Like some I excude ML and PD. Apologies to those who like them.) Or is Rowling the only name these days? Joe
