I think the problem with any film adaption from a book is ones own view of the characters is based on your own interpretation of what the characters should look like based on your own experiences
I am sure my Capt Flint would not look like other peoples.
or any of the other characters.
When I watched the movie showing it to my Grandson the children seemed so young.
But I think one casts the characters in the books in ones mind as being more mature or nearer to ones own age at the time.
It is however to mind better to see the movie then read the book if possible as they all are abbreviated for obvious reasons compared with books they are based on,
