I agree Alan, probably not many to distribute as there would not have been many phones in the area in those days.
Even so a labour to type all the individual cards, they would have to be a reasonable size to remain stable in an old manual typewriter.
Anyone care to speculate on the brand of typewriter?
Remington, Olympia, Olivetti, Hermes are brand names that spring instantly to mind. Though with his army background, he would have probably used an army one - war surplus?
This could rival speculation on the brand of toothpowder used at Beckfoot.
