In ALL "classes" of society, you will find people who are absolutely great to be with and also find total jerks and everything in between. For several years I taught in an art workshop in Vail, Colorado with a great cross section of folks from working class to the "elites". All were great people - a very democratic situation. One function was also attended by President Ford. I still see some of these people and even though I am obviously not in the "wealthy" class, I am still welcome. You can't judge an entire group by the performance or lack of performance of a few members.

I have read, however, that artists of all stripes tend to cross over class and other lines. It seems that our Mr. Ransome had that quality as evidenced by the article quoted earlier in this thread. He was not just a reporter getting his story while waiting to go home.
