I think the 'Dangerous' is an explicit dig at the Health and Safety mindset. The authors are deliberately recommending activities which would appeal to any active boy (not to mention Amazon) and which would today be frowned on by the 'safety at any cost' community. Or to quote today's Daily Express, "Health and Safety fascists". This accompanies a front-page news story of the H&S wishing to prevent parades on Remembrance Sunday - which have been held continuously since 1919 - taking place without Public Liability Insurance, yellow-jacketed marshals etc. In spite of the fact that these parades are already allowed to close the streets temporarily to vehicles, and are escorted by the police.
