Unless he was getting a knighthood, none. I suspect that she wanted to to shopping. Ipswich and Harwich wouldn't exactly have been the centre of the world.
If he was being posted to a UK shore job (seems quite likely given the time and his seniority) they would be moving to new quarters and she would be selecting things for their new home.
