I still maintain it’s horrifying that a renowned writer of the day (as I have now learned from knowledgable Tarboarders that she was), thought that the S&A books were only intended for boys. I'm sure AR didn't think that, although he must have seen (and presumably approved) her blurb.
And it’s only slightly less horrifying that such a comment should still be published nowadays as the taster for BS.
