Oh dear, my claim in my last post on this thread was too non-specific. What I meant was that during the time I was Co-ed of Moss, neither of the 'Duffers' articles was received, nor were they in the back-files which I inherited. Of course, if they had never reached a previous editor, or if they had reached him/her but had been mislaid, eg fallen behind a sideboard, then the pieces would not have been published. My immediate predecessor was Joy Wotton, who carefully preserved all material submitted to her, and passed the full files on to me. I can't really comment on her predecessors (one of whom owned a sideboard), but that would only affect articles submitted before 1998.
Would it not be a lot easier all round if Jock promoted the admirable 'If Not Duffers . . .' site by simply saying that it publishes new and radical research and thoughts on AR, and leaving out any slurs on the competition?
