There was an enquiry a few months ago about the sheep to be found on the Cumbrian fells, and IIRC, the type of sheep which Dick rescued. I posted a reply which referred to the Herdwick and Swaledale breeds, but I omitted the popular 'Rough Fell' sheep. Best get some expert info on this:
Scroll down the page for the three main Cumbrian fell breeds. Meanwhile, on a recent TARS expedition in the Cartmel area, this exhausted 'tup' was seen (wearing its orange-dye 'tell-tale' belt). It is apparently not a fell breed (the Cartmel peninsula is low-lying) and I have not identified it. Any suggestions?
