Great! has anyone tried them? Making them would have been an ideal activity for the explorers in the Fram. I have heard a couple of enthusiastic accounts of snowshoe tours in the Pyrenees. The modern ones are of course hi-tech (and pretentious?) but do incorporate some rudimentary crampons for hard snow.I wondered if they would be good for summer glacier travel.I guess you would be less likely to fall through snowbridges into crevasses but would struggle even more to get out.
