Remembering a past thread about the totem at the masthead being replaced with the Blue Peter in late editions of Secret Water, I have to provide this update.
In my Macmillan (1940, first American edition) copy with AR's illustrations, the Blue Peter illustration appears twice, on both occasions when Commander Walker hoists the signal (pages 37 and 336). So, it appears probable that the Totem at the Masthead illustration wasn't replaced, but simply omitted.
