You included me as one of the Overseas TARS who was forming your opinion of what non-British people gathered from Ransome and I was pointing out that my understanding of Ransome and the 1930s was not typical of an true-born "Overseas" reader in that I had some personal (albeit dated) British background which coloured my knowledge of Ransome's period. I don't think that I was missing your point, I was pointing out that you may have been under a misaprehension if you were including me in a sample of "Overseas" TARS.
