Ah-had! Now I have it(I think). The Walls ice cream I was referring to was the product sold in the U.K. in the late 1940s, long before the rules about not-milk fat or non-fat milk were even dreamed up. During a visit to Cornwall in 1996, I had some Walls ice cream and it was plain boring and very disappointing. I stand by my original statement that Walls ice cream is (or was) pretty terrific stuff. From other comments about it, I gather that the product has definitely changed since the 1940s. This means that I shall never, never sample that delicious ambrosia ever again.
