John - reproof accepted.
What I meant is the quazi-religiousity of it - much like people marrying in church when they otherwise never set foot in the place.
If Christmas is used as a time to have family & friends together, sing some emotive songs, give some gifts etc, there's no problem. But unless you are one of the truly religious(even then contemporary social ritual accounts for how you treat the festival) to attach religious symbolism as a necessity, or make others feel guilty because they don't, seems to me the ultimate hypocrisy. Lets face it - no-one knows when the child was born and the various religious bodies have historically changed dates to suit.
