Yup, the PC label has struck again. I have asked at some of our local libraries & bookstores which do not stock that title, but do stock the others. The answer is uniform--it seems to be AR's written dialect that is most offensive. Interesting to me that his spelled versions of various English& Scottish dialects don't offend these booksellers--only the Chinese one. I expect that most self-respecting Chinese people would be offended by ML, but I am sorry that such a clever tale is left out. And I do not have a mental picture of all Chinese people as speaking English as AR wrote it, nor do I believe that they are all pirates and dictators of a sort.....and I did read Missee Lee several times as a child!
