G. Christopher Davies - The Swan and Her Crew or the Adventures of Three Young Naturalists and Sportsmen on the Broads and Rivers of Norfolk - published, I think, not in the 1930s but in the 1880s.
Hmmm.... "Naturalists and Sportsmen"....in other words they spend hours searching for wildlife only to spend a minute or so dispatching it to the next world!
