Well, I seem to be Duty Officer tonight, and I think these are the passages Jock is requesting. You have to hand it to Roger for confidence in his own logic:

'Squashy's lots older than John or Susan', said Roger. 'Susan said we weren't to explore any hole where she and John hadn't been, so as to be sure it was safe. Well, he's older than both of them put together, and he's a native, too. It's perfectly, absolutely certain this one's alright . . . . (PP, p 244)

'Yes, but Squashy Hat's a native and older than you, and we saw him coming out,' said Roger. 'So we knew it was alright. And we went in, and then Titty came to fetch us back.' (PP p 267)
