That definition suits me best, Jock! Retired as I am, one of my favourite pastimes (besides 'lurking' here) is a good natter and a pint at my local. Topics are never predetermined: a constant variety of different people in the gathered assembly round the table ensures that a wonderful variety of topics is covered.
A thoroughly traditional pastime, and one of which I am sure AR would approve.
