I'd say that holiday tasks are pretty much a given. Remember Dot's conjecture about the GA's motives, when Nancy's mowing the lawn and Peggy's reading aloud:
"She's thinking of how they ought to be brought up, and killing two birds with one stone ... I'm sure that book she's making Peggy read must be one of their holiday tasks. She's wanting them to get it done. Like eating bread and butter first instead of starting on cake."
