I remember that in the twenties and thirties and on, there were kits one could buy in the USofA fairly cheaply that enabled you to convert a Model T and later a Model A engine for use in a boat or even an airplane (the Model A engine, I think, would probably be better for an airplane as it was lighter and didn't have the transmission as part of the engine).
