...I don't like the Candle Grease Aunt episode much - it seems a
strange offshoot to the story, causing Titty lots of anguish and
generally spreading an unwanted air of gloom while news of the
state of health of the GA is awaited.
The episode is one of the many passages where AR tries to convey
his personal moral code. The GA is being obnoxious (she has just
reduced the Amazons' mother to tears), but AR wants us to feel
uneasy about Titty's solution. He is saying saying that the end
(however virtuous) does not justify the means.
