Well, even 'seeking knowledge just for the sake of knowledge' is OK, surely? Isn't it about expanding mental horizons? Thanks to AR, I know that gold dissolves in aqua regia but virtually nothing else. I don't suppose I'll ever need to use that knowledge, but somehow I'm glad I've got it!
John - as to inserting italics, bold etc in posts, go to the top of the main TarBoard page and click on Message Format Guide. There you will find some handy instructions or, if you like, 'knowledge'!
