I mutter darkly about unpasteurised milk but the reality here is that the imported Australian possum, a major and destructive pest in the NZ bush, is also a carrier for TB, which it passes with gay abandon onto cattle. Although all farms here are TB checked and measures taken, pasteurisation is necessary. My grandmother, a dairy farmer's daughter, died of TB in the early 50's.
