All is not lost. Here in Hampshire, I get real silver-top (pasteurised) milk delivered to my door in bottles. In the summer, it has a magnificent layer of cream on top.
Better still, if I drive a mile down the road, I am at the farm where it comes from. If I get the timing wrong (e.g. 9am) I can wait 10 minutes in the road while the cows to move from the dairy into their field after milking.
Faddists who want skimmed milk or homogenised can have it delivered by our milkman, but the farm buy those types in from a giant national dairy.
