There are Americans who actually like to learn the correct pronunciation of words in foreign languages, even English, which we consider to be "our" language. There are also, amazingly, Americans who consider British pronunciations of English words to be "wrong"! I think some Americans believe that our country is the "best" at everything--a very insular approach to life.
