Actually it seems that today, December 22nd is technically the true solstice this year - the astronomical solstice was at 00 22 GMT (or whatever the new politically correct title of GMT is)
Apparently hordes of 'Druids' turned up at Stonehenge yesterday only to be told that they had got the day wrong.
