Have you heard of a children's author called Roland Pertwee? He wrote a book called, if I remember rightly, "The Islanders". It was about a group of boys who live on an island in the middle of a river during their school holidays. They go fishing and build a raft and have a war with other children, etc. I don't know if Pertwee and A.R. were contemporaries or not, I could try to find out if you're interested.

Also, what about all those books by Enid Blyton, or is that so obvious that I've made myself look like a fool by mentioning them?
