The egg-headed boy journalist, his astute dog, Snowy, and his hirsute and drunken pal, Captain Haddock, have climbed out of their comic books and invaded one of the temples of modern art. So starts a review in the Independent newspaper of a Tintin exhibition in the Pompidou Centre in Paris. So far so good, Tintin's creator, Hergé, has delighted hundreds of thousands with his comic book tales. But, Blistering barnacles! Ten thousand thundering typhoons! is scrambled Nancy-speak, rather than Haddock dock-speak. Is John Lichfield, the reviewer, trying to tell us something?
