Seems the tradition in the Walker family is for daddy and mother! by Paul

I think the same tradition prevails in the Blackett family - N&P call their mother "Mother" and on the summit of Kanchenjunga Nancy says, "He was father" when the cache is discovered detailing Bob Blackett climbing the Matterhorn.

In CITN, the D&G's always call their parents "Dad" and "Mum", both when they are speaking directly to them, and when they are talking about them. In the narrative their parents are referred to as "father" and "mother".

It's a fact that the D&G's and the S&A's aren't from the same background. Good thing too. Shows how skilled an author AR was that he could write convincingly about any characters!
