I note that the Wikipedia entry on Childers ducks the
issue as to whether Childers was Irish or English:

Childers was born in London to a Protestant family
originally from Glendalough, Ireland. His father was
English and his mother Irish, but he was orphaned as
a child and raised by an uncle in County Wicklow.

If I am right about The Mastadon's Dilemma (see ancient
TarBoard archives), AR believed that it was possible to be both.
