Wayne's Bibliography is a magnificent book if you want to know all about everything AR published - and a lot published about him in the 20th century. At $15.95, snap it up; that's a wonderful bargain. I paid a lot more for my copy, and refer to it frequently.
I don't know how far he went in examining individual copies, but I know he didn't just rely on publisher's files. He borrowed my early S&A to see exactly how it differed from previous editions.
