Britain is a deliberately vague concept as are America and Europe. For example America, for me, means from the northern tip of Canada down to Terra del Fuego (not the SW one - to try and keep on an AR topic). I am sure the America means other areas to other people.
If you want to define a specific area of land one has to move to another definition.
Perhaps like Nancy's sweep of the arm to define High Topps in PP, is is more of a phrase to excite the imagination rather than to define a very specific area.
