She was Russian. This comes with drama and a sense of tragedy, often with a deep pessimism. I'm sure that AR knew all about this from the beginning, although it wouldn't have made it any easier for him... And the upside would be that she presumably also had that special Russian charm and warmth.

I always reckoned that with Genia, over all, AR was a lucky man.
