This all fits.

The fortnight between WD and SW is the clincher. We can debate the plumbing at Beckfoot as freely as we like, but the tides are explicitly stated in both books and are a fundamental fact of nature.

If somebody could look in the archives and find the Nautical Almanach for 1932 (or 1931) they could check the tide tables and find out the exact dates on which these events happened.
