I would like to add my feelings of sadness at the news that Pauline Marshall has passed away.

Rick mentioned the Calvert Trust; it was that same organisation on Bassenthwaite that Pauline arranged for me to collect an Able Sailer, a device she had designed that would help handicaped sailors tack. It was a simple device - aren't all good inventions simple? - that fixed to the aft thwart of a dinghy with a seat, very much like that on a skiff, that ran on rails through 180 degrees, to enable less able sailors to come about easily.

This was later presented to The Nancy Oldfield Trust on Barton Broad, an organisation with the same aims as the Calvert Trust.
