Pin Mill is much the same. I guess that's also down to planning restrictions, although there it might be due to lack of economic activity

There is plenty of economic activity in the Ipswich area, and there are huge pressures for development, especially near the estuaries.

It is only the Planning system that has fought some mighty battles and so kept the Stour, Orwell, Deben and Secret Water as unspoiled as they are.

However although this has worked for ordinary delelopment it has been a very different story when 'The National Interest' is thrown into the balance. Felixstowe and Harwich were just as AR described them in the 1960s, but now the Felixstowe container port (and, worse, its lights) are visible from almost everywhere including Secret Water, and the proposed Bathside port at Harwich will soon be just as dominant.

Nevertheless the sailing in almost entirely unspoiled and AR's spirit still haunts these waters.
