NO!

The trouble about attacking posts or their posters when we don't
- like / understand / see the relevance / enjoy - a particular post
is that whenever we attack such posts we discourage creative and
original minds from contributing and TarBoard rapidly sinks to a
lowest common denominator level.

We all react to Ransome in ways based on our own private experience.
For instance, I cannot read AR's references to well aired larders
without thinking of the natural cooling effect of forced draught
evaporation on damp walls. Yet as the saying goes one man's damp-
course is another man's poison.

There is a lot of logic in AR's writings and I believe that, as well as
trying to teach us sailing, AR is trying to teach us logical thinking
as well. I may have imagined it, but I'm almost sure that Euclid is
mentioned somewhere. AR himself would have certainly been taught
Euclidian geometry at school. John's puzzle is a neat combination of
logic and geometry.
