What was the storyline plot purpose in mentioning this actual book?

I am not sure that there was any 'plot purpose', Ed - I reckon AR was just inking in a bit more of Dorothea for us. We have had discussions about ROTS before on TarBoard, and it has been pointed out that it is very much an old-fashioned 'man's book', with an 'imperial' subtext as well. The assumptions and thought-processes and behaviour are very much young adult male, and I think D could have sussed this out fairly quickly. It probably wasn't sufficiently 'romantic' for Dorothea - romantic in the general cultural sense, not just love-interest. I can understand why Dorothea put it back. (Incidentally, I don't like ROTS much either, but let's not go there.)

I think my argument above can be greatly strengthened if I express it as: D =2(rots k)FiFj-Fkoff.
