ahh hang on. Notes on style (p229)

Straight back- should be erect but not stiff
swing- as far as possible from hips, not back, head to swing with body. Swing to be slow, balanced and ona traight line, body to rest while swinging forward.
arms-Straight while swininging back, stroke to be finished by shoulders, bicps to be passive throughout (use of biceps= sticking out elbows and cramped ugly stroke)
elbows- Oar to be pulled into chest not vice versa, elbows should begin to bend just before body reaches limit of back swing
hands- to be dropped before wrists at end of stroke, to come quickly away from chest (or forward swing will be rushed)
Oars to be properly feathered
Legs- To be taught after use of body, must drive immediately teh body takes teh strain of the oar, should remain rigid and supporting body throughout stroke
recovery- to be as economical as possible stages:
catch- beginning of stroke most forceful part, should be driven from teh body, oar should not strike water
form- square shoulders, head erect, straight swing from hips, elastic recovery
distance of back swing- to be limittedto a position from which the body can be recovered by abs and thigh muscles alone

Phew, go John. Anyone want teh list of faults to be guarded against?
